When the Academy awards its 'scholarships', there is a small percentage of "Plus One" scholarships which can be awarded for the purpose of padding out the roster of Jameson University's cover-students. In Bonnie's case, her father was able to swing her two such Plus Ones. Anticipating having her own team which she worked well with, Bonnie in turn gave them to her sycophants Hope and Tara.

Counter to most interpretations of Hope as Chinese or other Asian, my vision for her is Romani (Gypsy); primarily based on her stride in the latter part of The Full Monkey where she, Bonnie, and Tara are walking the halls complaining about Kim being a no-show. In at least one incarnation I'm playing with her being part Hekawi Indian on her father's side. Not sure yet if that will apply here.

With either or both heritages, I've given her the quirk of being barefoot as often as possible. We never saw it in the show because 1) health regulations forbid it in schools, and 2) the squad required regulation footwear as part of the uniform. She normally wears a pair of Chinese ku li slippers which easily fold into pockets; in this case her inside vest pockets.
